Taking Divided Monarchists as an example, it explains that this is a huge issue and source of instability. It just fails to explain why things are happening, how they really felt to people living back then and what effects there were.

  • It fails to complement the game mechanics, because it just adds events on top, that essentially don't care about what's going on, and do not use features we generally use in the game.
  • However Voice of the People does not do that any well.

We can't have everything perfectly happen as a result of the systems alone, but having those moments, where the devs step in and create flavour mechanics, can fill the gaps. However, sometimes it's not at all able to represent what actually happened and what affected the historical events, and then immersion packs are really useful, to fill the gaps and add some localized content, that makes the game more accurate. The game should have this emergent narration coming from its systems and in some cases it's doing it pretty well. You're taking an event with a 30% chance of happening as Fait Accompli which frankly, is laughable.I mean, there is actually a good idea behind what we see in Voice of the People. On top of that, if anything, one of the things the game has going for it is actually its pretty decent current sales. Yes, it very much could fail to pick up steam and get cancelled (although that would probably take two years cause they have to make the game's DLC). Vic3 is doing about average for a post release Paradox title, and it's certainly doing a whole lot better than Imperator.

I remember in a lot of early paradox, whole regions of the world had shitty second rate events that just made it not fun to play (for example) Poland, or Hungary, or Timurids, or any developing nation, or weird useless events that never triggered that were historical but nobody cared about them.

If you pick Russia and play for a bit, you might not even realize there was an Immersion Pack installed, because from outside perspective France is just the same it was.Ĭlick to expand. No, it shouldn't have, I'd prefer them taking their time to add in depth country events then just try to slap tons of "we need events for this country very general quick go" kind of surface level events that inevitably get reworked whenever the region comes along. And there still aren't - if you don't play as France, then you will see essentially no difference outside potential Paris Commune. Remember France was in Vic3 a super strong nation, that basically had a good shot at nr 1 great power even in AI hands, because there just wasn't anything representing the troubles the state faced.

  • It fails to have visible effects on the game from outside the French perspective.
